In 2018, a 15-year-old boy named Vincent Gonzales from
Chicago, who repeatedly sneaked into a gym to use the basketball court after his mother could no longer afford to pay his gym membership. The management finally called the police, but instead of arresting the teen, police officer Mario Valenti offered to pay $150 from his own pocket towards his membership so that he can play basketball. The gym's management was so overwhelmed by the officer's kind gesture that they decided to offer the teen a two-year membership.

    • People need to get a grip. Just because you have the police on speed dial doesn't mean you need to call them. People used to speak to one another, why didn't someone ever ask this young man why he was sneaking in. The officer had it right, ask questions first, take action later
