If it looks like sugar, it is sugar
When was around the age of a toddler, maybe 4 or 5, I wanted to eat something sweet but I didn't want a normal sweet from the cupboard. So, my mum bought out a jar of sugar, I ate some with a spoon then stopped and my mum put it back.
About 10 minutes later, my mum took out some "sugar" again but this time I didn't ask her too. I said
"Wow, thanks, mum! How did you know I wanted more sugar?"
"Hmm? Oh no, honey, this isn't sugar this
"What do you mean this isn't sugar, of course it is, it's white and shaped like cubes so it MUST be sugar!"
Instead of me getting a spoon, this time I just put my WHOLE mouth in the jar and basically start chugging it.
"Sweetie, I'm telling you, that isn't sug-"
"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH WHY IS THIS SO WEIRD IT DOESN'T TAKE LIKE SUAGR AT ALL, HOW COULD THIS BE?!"
And that's the story of how I gulped down salt because I thought it was sugar at the age of 4or5.
